British people would spend a whole day trawling the internet if it meant securing a good deal on their holidays to South Africa and other destinations.
This is according to research from greenbee.com, which found that 20 per cent of people spend over eight hours looking for cheap deals, compared to the 17 per cent who do look into destinations in great detail.
People in Wales and the south-west of England were found to be the most free-spirited when it came to deciding on a destination, with a fifth not relying on guide books or the opinions of others before booking.
James Furse, managing director of greenbee.com said: “With finances front of mind for many, it’s understandable that getting the best possible deal is a key concern.”
However, he added that in their haste to get good deals on flights and accommodation, people should not neglect other key areas such as travel insurance and currency exchange.
South Africa currently presents good value to holidaymakers thanks to the favourable exchange rate of the rand.
