More people may soon be booking holidays to Dubai after it emerged that hotels and restaurants are offering discounts and promotions to coincide with the annual shopping festival.

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTM) will launch the extravaganza on Saturday (January 10th) and it is expected to run until mid-February.

Some hotel room prices will be reduced by as much as 60 per cent, while food and drink could be 25 per cent less costly.

Khalid Ahmed bin Sulayem, director general of the DTCM, said: “This campaign comes in the framework of promoting the emirate in all occasions and at all events throughout the year.”
