The ACST Phuket cricket event is to move to a new home for next month’s contest.

The organisers of the ACST Phuket Cricket Week contest have announced the events will be moving to a new home this year.

Taking place between April 14th and 22nd 2012, the event will this year be staged at the Kata Group Sports Ground in Chalong.

It was forced to move from its previous home of the Karon Stadium, where the games have been held since 2008, after the Karon Municipal Council withdrew permission due to the Thailand Youth Games that are taking place there in May.

“The KGSG offers excellent facilities such as a swimming pool, bar and even a clubhouse which teams and spectators can enjoy, plus a larger, turfed playing field, and is only 10 minutes’ drive from the Green Man,” said tournament organiser Saurav Chatterjee.

Also known at the Phuket Sixes, the tournament also includes the popular Karon Sea Sands Beach Cricket Tournament, which is held this year on April 17th on Karon beach.
