Tourists heading for holidays to South Africa should book some time to spend in the Kruger National Park, a travel journalist has said.
A travel journalist has recommended that anyone booking flights to South Africa should ensure that they have time to visit the Kruger National Park.
In the second of a series of articles about South Africa, Graham Boynton described the wildlife reserve as one of the best attractions in the country.
Writing in the Daily Telegraph, he commented: “You are guaranteed sightings of the big five without having to break a sweat.”
The big five refers to the top animals people want to see on safari trips to the country – lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards and rhino.
Mr Boynton added that the south-west corner of Kruger, which is easily accessible from Johannesburg, is heavily populated by tourists and suggested that anyone seeking a more remote wildlife experience should head towards its north-easterly regions.
South Africa will play host to the World Cup in 2010 and although a legion of football fans are expected to descend on the country, their non-football loving travel companions may be pleased to hear that there is plenty to do there other than watch sport.
