South Africa’s Kruger National Park is the ideal place to see the Big 5 in their natural habitat.

A trip to Kruger National Park may be ideal for those who want to get in touch with nature while on holiday in South Africa.

One of the largest game reserves in the country, it offers the chance to see the Big 5 – lions, African elephants, Cape buffalo, leopards and rhinoceros.

The park is home to the world’s largest population of white rhino, which were on the brink of being wiped out when the park was established in 1898, as well as around 2,000 lions – one of the largest concentrations in Africa.

Visitors will have the chance to see animals in their natural habitat on safari, be it by vehicle or using a less conventional mode of transport – on the back of Jabulani, an elephant that was rescued after being stuck in silt dam mud in 1997.

Accommodation options in the park are almost as plentiful as the wildlife itself, as visitors can choose anything from self-catering chalets to luxurious lodge and spa facilities.
