Cape Town has been named as the host of the international ICT Indaba 2012 in June.
Cape Town is to host the ICT Indaba 2012 event this June, which will see some of the world’s best IT experts head to the city.
The four-day event is set to take place between June 4th and 7th, with representatives travelling from across Africa to discuss how to boost the continent’s profile as an expert in IT.
Held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), it is to be jointly-hosted by the Department of Communications.
While this event will be the first time it is held, it has already been announced that it will continue for at least the next five years.
Communications minister Dina Pule said the event is sending a broad message that Africa is the next boom market for ICT.
“Africa is a minefield of opportunities for communication services providers because it has a population estimated at one billion people, but many of them do not have access to affordable communications services,” she said.
This year, the CTICC is also set to host the MDG Summit and Exhibition and the Marketing Indaba.
