A safari resort in South Africa has won a prestigious award in what has been dubbed as the “Oscars of the travel industry”.

Winning the Leading Tourism Development Project at the World Travel Awards 2009, the Legend Golf and Safari Resort offers travellers a holiday in South Africa with a difference.

The resort is situated on the Big 5 Entabeni game reserve on a 22,000 hectare reserve in the Waterberg, Limpopo Province.

Golfers will also appreciate the Signature golf course, where each hole has been designed by a famous golf professional and, according to the resort, has the world’s most extreme golf hole boasting the longest and highest par three on the planet.

For those who prefer to completely relax while on holiday, the hotel also houses a wellness centre and recreational facilities.

Three miles from Johannesburg, the Entabeni reserve is located in the World Heritage site of the Waterberg Biosphere, which according to TopPlaces, is home to five eco-systems.
