Luis Figo will be attending the Youth Champions League in Goa
Football legend Luis Figo will be heading to Goa as part of the Youth Champions League festival in November.
The event sees 250 schools from across soccer-mad India participate in the five-day sporting celebration.
“We thought getting someone who has only just retired from the game would let youngsters build an easy connection and there are few better than Luis Figo who fit the bill,” says Vinit Rughani, head of business development at Red9 Events – the organisers of the festival.
Joining Figo in the popular tourist hotspot will be his former Real Madrid teammate and World Cup winner Roberto Carlos.
The Youth Champions League will run from October 29th to November 2nd. Around 2,500 players from all over Indian and a few international teams will compete in six stadiums across Goa.
It has already proved so successful Red9 states it is currently in negotiations to bring another footballing superstar to Goa next year.
