Kerala’s international airport could be developed into a major transport hub.
It is understood that there have already been talks between the state government and the airport director, V N Chandran, about the long-term development of the world’s only five-point transport airport.
People take flights to Thiruvananthapuram will be able to benefit from the new international terminal which is to be opened next month.
The new proposals will include the widening of an 8km stretch of waterway and will allow holidaymakers to take a boat direct from the airport to the nearby beach resorts. Plans also suggest the creation of direct access to the port of Vizhinjam.
Express Buzz recently reported that the Airports Authority of India could consider both international and domestic flights operating from the new terminal.
