The fastest elevators in India will soon be in use in Mumbai following an order placed with Mitsubishi Electronic Corporation.
The Japanese firm announced it has received the orders for nine lifts that will be installed in the 53-storey residential Ahuja Tower that is currently being built in the city.
Of the nine ordered, four will travel at a speed of six metres per second, or 21.6 kmph, which will make them the fastest lifts in the country.
The lifts are being made to offer the most comfort to its users as possible, with each including a security system for ID cards to allow access to predetermined floors of the two buildings which are being constructed in the project.
Mumbai is known as a place of great cultural interest as well as technological innovation and the city recently celebrated its heritage with the Kabir Festival.
