Anyone on their holidays in India for the end of December may wish to head to the state of Kerala to take place in the annual Cochin Carnival in Fort Cochin.
The event is a massive new year celebration that transforms the old town and sees shops dressed in white bunting as games and competitions take place.
Running from December 25th until January 1st, one of the highlights is sure to be the New Year’s Day procession, which will be led by an elephant and will feature music, floats, dancing and folk art.
However, there will also be a massive fireworks display at midnight on New Year’s Eve.
The Cochin Carnival can be traced back to the Portuguese revellers who took to the streets during the colonial days.
Kerala was also recently recommended by MSN as a great place to take a honeymoon due to its relaxing atmosphere and lush green vegetation.
