An increasing number of UK travellers opted to take holidays to Egypt this year, the country’s Ministry of Tourism has said.
British holidaymakers have boosted tourist activity in Egypt, the minister of tourism in the African country has revealed.
HE Zoheir Garranah said: “The UK market has the biggest growth. From January to October, it has had 9.9 per cent growth over 2008.”
Mr Garranah put this down to the host of packages on offer through tour operators that provide visitors with good deals, as well as a renewed focus on marketing campaigns by the Ministry of Tourism.
However, he added that Egypt would “work very strongly” to maintain its slice of the global tourism market.
A statement released earlier this month by Thomson & First Choice tipped Egypt as one of the destinations to watch in 2010.
According to the travel company, the country’s culture, climate and comparatively short flight time from the UK makes it “a great all-round destination” for families and adults alike.
The operator also commented that the wide selection of family-oriented resorts makes it ideal for people with kids who are seeking some sunshine.
