People on holidays in Dubai may soon be able to spot the Liverpool footballer Steven Gerrard. The midfielder has been given a holiday home in the Emirate city as part of a sponsorship deal with a property development company there, it has been revealed.

A £150 million tower block is to be named in his honour, so the footballer will be able to benefit from his own £1 million property in which to stay when he goes on his holidays.

Commenting on his new gift, he said that going on trips to Dubai will at least “improve my tan”, but said he won’t be able to relax there fully until Liverpool have won the Premier League trophy again.

Dubai is often referred to as the Las Vegas of the Middle East thanks to its propensity for bling and Frank Lampard, Michael Owen and David Beckham all own properties there already.
