A Thai company is set to open eight new hotels in Dubai as part of its expansion into the Middle East.

Zinc InVision is planning to eventually open 28 establishments in the region, in a move that could appeal to those taking flights to Dubai in the future.

The first hotel is expected to be launched in Jebel Ali by the end of 2014, with all of the remaining properties fully operational by the end of 2020 following an investment of $180 million.

Jean Marc Lafosse, vice-president of development at Zinc InVision, told Arabian Business that the plans include four deluxe hotels, two five-star establishments and two mid-tier properties in Dubai.

He added: “We’re looking at phoenix-like growth over the next few years. Dubai’s five-star hotel market is slowly recovering and the revenues per available room is also increasing, allowing us a perfect time to come in and leverage our presence in the area.”

Zinc InVision currently operates a number of luxury hotels in Thailand including the only five-star resort in Koh Phi Phi.
