Guaranteed sunshine and great deals make holidays to Dubai a popular choice.
Holidays to Dubai, Thailand and Egypt are the most popular choices for those booking winter breaks this year, according to one travel agent.
The Flight Centre’s list of five top winter sun destinations also includes Antigua at number four and Australia in fifth position.
The company is predicting that these destinations will be the most popular choices for holidaymakers looking to escape the cold of the British winter, based on booking enquiries.
Dubai rated highest due to its abundance of top-quality hotels and resorts coupled with the opportunity to indulge in some retail therapy around Christmas.
The company is tipping Thailand as the next family destination due to an increase in the number of family-friendly resorts and the country’s substantially lower prices of food and drink than any of its European rivals.
Egypt made it in to third place, with the Red Sea Riviera offering a range of resorts as well as adventurous activities, such as scuba diving and wind surfing to tempt visitors.
Research released by InsureandGo earlier this week found that the winter weather was not the only factor encouraging winter breaks. The recession has forced millions of Brits to travel abroad to escape from the doom and gloom, the company claimed.
