A new Taj Mahal hotel will be built in Dubai.
People booking flights to Dubai know that they are set to see some of the world’s most spectacular modern buildings while on holiday.
However, construction is about to get underway which will bring an exact replica of one of history’s most iconic landmarks to the gulf region.
The £620 million project will see a duplicate of the Taj Mahal built in Dubai and it should be open to the public by 2014. The original Taj in India was built more than 350 years ago by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as a shrine for his wife and took more than 20 years to complete.
Dubai builders will have their version erected in just over 12 months and it is set to be bigger than the Agra monument and be the site of a 300-room hotel.
Developer Arun Mehra said that the ‘New City of Love’ will also feature other duplicates of the world’s most famous structures including the Great Wall of China and the Eiffel Tower.
