Tourists and commuters alike find it easy to travel around Dubai thanks to the Metro system.

Dubai’s iconic Metro system has celebrated the three-year anniversary of its launch over the weekend (September 9th).

The public transport infrastructure in the emirate is widely recognised as one of the best in the world and is a major reason tourists find it so easy to get around and see the sights that are on offer.

Since it was first introduced in 2009, more than 184 million people have used the Green and Red lines.

At 74.69 km, the Metro is the longest driverless system in the world and like most things in Dubai is a masterpiece of innovative engineering.

Mattar Al Tayer, chairman and executive director of the Roads & Transport Authority, said: “This huge success has gone beyond the boundaries of the emirate to the world over, stamping the prominent standing of Dubai as a distinctive metropolitan city and a hub for business as well as sophisticated living standards.”
