People on holidays in Dubai in November are to get a treat when the QE2 sails into the city on her final journey.

The luxury liner will arrive on Wednesday 26th November, after which it will become a permanent feature in Dubai.

After this date, the ship will be refurbished and prepared, before being docked permanently on the man-made island of Palm Jumeirah to become a floating hotel.

The ship’s final voyage is expected to attract attention from all over the world and it is thought that thousands of people will head to Dubai to stay in it as a hotel.

QE2 has sailed around the world 25 times and has crossed the Atlantic over 800 times, during which she has carried more than 2.5 million passengers.

The ship made her maiden voyage in 1969 and has made a number of historic journeys, including in 1982 when she was commissioned as a troop carrier for the Falklands War.
