The annual Dubai International Boat Show has won an award for being the best marine event in the Middle East.
It scooped the top spot at the recent Arabian Gulf Yachting Awards 2008, which were recently held in the Emirates city, as well as a prize for Best Company Contribution to the Industry, Zawya.com reports.
Helal Saeed Almarri, chief executive of the Dubai World Trade Centre, said the accolade is a great achievement for all involved with the show.
“Dubai International Boat Show is now firmly placed on the calendar of the world’s best boat shows and this has been demonstrated by the growing number of visitors year-over-year,” he commented.
The 2008 event saw 27,420 visitors in attendance, 12 per cent more than in 2007.
It was recently announced that the QE2 is to be permanently moored in Dubai as a tourist attraction after making its final voyage later this month.
