Dubai is emerging as a popular destination for short breaks as people become more adventurous and look for exciting new places to travel.

This is according to Ian Scott, director of the UK and Ireland representative office of Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), who said the city has a wide range of activities that will appeal everyone.

‘Dubai is becoming the city-break destination of choice, particularly for couples seeking an alternative to more traditional destinations such as New York and Paris.

“[It] caters to all tastes … all set to a stunning backdrop of breathtaking desert landscapes, azure waters and pristine beaches,” he told AME Info.

The business resource also cites figures from Mintel, which state that one in ten UK adults has been on a short-break holiday in the past 12 months, with the United Arab Emirates market growing by 46 per cent in 2007.

Last month, figures from DCTM showed that of the one million people going on flights to Dubai from the UK last year, two-thirds say they plan to return soon, reported the Financial Times.
