Traffic figures are Dubai Airport show a strong rise in travellers visiting the UAE city.
If you’re thinking of booking flights to Dubai this summer, you’re not alone, as the latest airport traffic figures show that the UAE city is experiencing a strong rise in popularity.
Last month 4.23 million passengers passed through Dubai International Airport, a rise of 13.2 per cent on the same time last year, Emirates 24|7 reports.
The total number of arrivals in Dubai this year has already reached 16.5 million, meaning that the first four months of 2011 are up 8.5 per cent on the same period in 2010.
Paul Griffiths, chief executive officer of Dubai Airports, said that this trend is set to continue: “Our busiest summer ever is just around the corner and we will be working hard to maintain high service levels and ensure the comfort of our customers.”
Western Europe saw an even bigger April traffic rise of 20.1 per cent, although this is mostly due to last year’s figures being severely affected by the volcanic ash cloud from Iceland.
