Craig Alexander has announced he is planning to compete in the forthcoming Melbourne triathlon.
People taking flights to Melbourne in order to compete in its forthcoming triathlon could find they are competing against one of the world’s best athletes.
Craig Alexander has announced he will be taking part in the race on March 25th in the Australian city, marking the first time it has ever been hosted.
The presence of Alexander is an important landmark for the event, as he is one of the best regarded triathletes in the world, having won the Hawaiian Ironman triathlon three times.
It is expected he will complete the race in a very impressive time, as he managed to finish the gruelling Hawaii circuit last month in a remarkable eight hours three minutes and 56 seconds.
Triathlons attract only the most talented athletes as they comprise of a 3.8 km swim, 180 km cycle and a 42.2 km run.
For those on flights to Melbourne who prefer to take things a little easier, the Food and Wine Festival is set to take place in the city this summer.
