Holidays to Australia are being highlighted in a new campaign which will showcase the best the vast country has to offer.

A series of films have been created by Hollywood director Baz Luhrmann, which are aligned with the forthcoming movie Australia starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman.

The films and a series of press advertisements will show stressed-out city-dwellers walking in the Outback, diving over the Great Barrier Reef and ballooning over Canberra.

Tourism Australia spokesperson Nick Baker said: “The idea stems from Baz’s film, which tells the story of Nicole Kidman’s character Lady Sarah Ashley, who has lost her sense of self but who finds adventure, romance and her true self when she comes to Australia.”

Last month, Kidman credited swimming in a waterfall in the Australian outback with contributing to her unexpected pregnancy and the birth of her daughter Sunday Rose in July.
