It may not be the first thing that springs to mind when considering holidays to Australia, but it seems skiing is overtaking surfing as the most popular activity in some regions.
It may not be the first thing that springs to mind when considering holidays to Australia, but it seems skiing is overtaking surfing as the most popular activity in some regions.
Record snowfalls are being seen in areas of New South Wales and Victoria, including the aptly-named Snowy Mountains and Falls Creek and fans of snowboarding and skiing are rushing to take advantage.
“Fans in eastern Australia are raving this year: The snow just keeps on coming and it’s a perfect season to hit the slopes Down Under,” said Jaunted.com.
More snow is predicted during the coming months and it is expected to reach further down the mountains than usual, giving holidaymakers plenty of time and space to plan a ski trip.
New South Wales is Australia’s oldest and most populous state, located in the south-east of the country, north of Victoria and south of Queensland.
The Snowy Mountains are part of the Great Dividing Range, which extends from Victoria through New South Wales to Queensland, parallel to the narrow coastal plain.
