The cost of buying a cup of coffee in Melbourne is far less than in other areas of Australia.
The latest edition of the Gilkatho Cappuccino Price Index showed the price of getting a cup of coffee around the country and found the average price of the beverage in Melbourne is AU$3.37 (£2.14).
This is around 14 per cent less than the price people in Sydney can expect to pay for a drink.
Melbourne is getting something of a reputation for producing good coffee, with some coffee houses reporting that they have visitors from other places in the country who have been given maps by their friends directing them to their coffee shop.
One of the reasons why coffee is so well-priced in the city was stated to be the number of different locations all vying for customers, which keep the prices competitive.
A popular place in Melbourne to stop and have a coffee is Fitzroy Street in the St Kilda district.
