The Sydney Harbour Regatta is expected to draw huge crowds.
This year’s Sydney Harbour Regatta looks set to be a huge event. Some 115 boat owners have already signed up for the annual competition and there are still two days left before entries are closed (on Friday February 24th).
To encourage people to enter the Regatta, which takes place between March 10th and 11th, the organisers are offering a $15,000 trip for two in the 2013 Italian Job Yacht Rally – courtesy of Mariner Boating Holidays.
The 2013 rally takes place off the Amalfi coast in Italy and lasts for 14 days.
Warwick Rooklyn is one of the strongest contenders in the running for the top prize in March’s regatta.
Commenting on his chances, longstanding rival Kevin Nixon told Yachte.com: “Warwick (Rooklyn) will be our main threat at the regatta.
“He’s been trying to get us up to speed – he’s really helped us – so I feel a bit guilty when we do beat him.”
In 2011, some 4,000 sailors took part in the regatta and this year is likely to be just as popular.
