People in Britain are increasingly choosing their holidays based on celebrity recommendations, it has been revealed.
A study carried out by private bank Cater Allen found that some £64 billion per year is being spent in the UK on holidays, with over a third of people reporting being convinced of their destination by its reputation as a celebrity hotspot.
Many Britons were found to be choosing flights to Dubai after it was reported that the likes of Tiger Woods and Brad Pitt had holidayed there.
However, with some 32 per cent of people spending ten per cent of their income on holidays, Cater Allen head of marketing Sally Watts said they should manage their finances carefully.
“Apart from the obvious security risks of taking too much cash with you when you travel, the costs associated with transferring cash before you leave or using your debit or credit card while abroad can be staggering,” she remarked.
Earlier this month, it was reported that celebrities are increasingly flocking to Dubai as the region’s luxury reputation grows.
Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding recently jetted off to the city for a girl’s sunshine break after splitting with her DJ fiance and soap stars Verity Rushworth and Adele Silver have both been pictured there.
