Virgin Atlantic’s Clubhouse in London has been named world’s best airport lounge in a luxury travel poll.
First-class passengers flying with the airline are able to sip cocktails, take advantage of a free spa and hair salon and enjoy the array of pre-flight entertainment in the lounge.
The clubhouse was voted best in the world by readers of the Telegraph’s luxury travel magazine, Ultratravel.
Graham Boynton, writing for the newspaper, said: “The Virgin Clubhouse is run more like a five-star hotel than an airport lounge.”
“The centrepiece,” he continued, “is a magnificent 40-foot-long bar from which its crew … dispense some of the best cocktails in London”, created by mixologist Marc Plumridge.
Catering for children as well as adults, the Clubhouse also includes a children’s area crammed with sweets and an area to play pool and watch films.
Virgin Atlantic flies to Australia, South Africa and India from London Heathrow.
