According to figures released by Airports of Thailand, the number of daily tourist arrivals to the country had reached 28,021 by January 5th this year, an increase on almost 100 per cent since early December 2008.
Phornsiri Manoharn, Tourism Authority of Thailand governor, said: “This is clear proof of the high levels of confidence that visitors have in the kingdom of Thailand, the Thai people and the Thai tourism industry.”
She added that she was pleased to see tourist numbers climbing back up so quickly and that “amazing” Thailand seems to be almost back to normal.

Valere Tjolle, in an article for TravelMole, pointed out that there is more to the Asian country than spicy food and wonderful beaches and that visitors can participate in a number of eco-tourism projects.
