Some people heading to Thailand could be planning to get married while they are there.

People taking flights to Thailand could be planning to tie the knot during the break as one expert noted that it is a popular wedding destination.

Offering advice to couples who want to get married in a foreign country, Belinda Hanks, editor of Confetti.co.uk, said there has been a rise in the numbers choosing to get wed in another country, often for very different reasons.

She said that while some decide to go away in order to save money as they avoid having to pay for a big wedding party, others do it simply because they do not want to have to cater for all the members of their family.

Some countries which are becoming more popular as places to get married in include Mauritius and Australia, with Ms Hanks adding that “Thailand is always a favourite”.

Those who head out on flights to Thailand soon could pick up their wedding and engagement rings at the Bangkok Gems and Jewellery Fair.
