Thai Airways is to begin new flights to Bangkok from Haneda in Japan at the end of the month.
Teerapol Chotichanapibal, Thai Airways’ acting executive vice-president for commercial department, said: “Thai Airways will commence daily flight to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, while maintaining current service to Narita International Airport.”
He added passengers will benefit from the new flights to Haneda because of the airport’s closer location to the centre of Tokyo and suggested the move could boost demand from both business and leisure travellers.
Improvements at Haneda airport have also been designed to improve transfer and check-in times for passengers taking flights to Thailand and other international destinations.
Passengers catching international flights following domestic Japanese flights no longer need to collect and recheck their luggage before boarding and this has helped reduce connecting times.
