Hedwig and the Angry Inch is being staged until the end of the month at Bangkok University’s Black Box Theatre.
Hit musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch is set to be performed at the Black Box Theatre, allowing holidaymakers who have taken cheap flights to Bangkok to enjoy a unique and entertaining production.
It will be staged until Sunday July 31st at the Bangkok University venue, with tickets costing 500 baht (£10.35).
Originally performed in 1998 in the US, the bizarre story was acclaimed by critics thanks to its intriguing themes and great tunes, which draw heavily on glam-rock pioneers such as David Bowie.
The success of the stage production led to a silver screen adaptation in 2001, with John Cameron Mitchell – the writer of the original musical – directing and taking on the title role.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch follows the fortunes of an East German transgender singer and his band as he tells the story of his life via the medium of song.
The musical and film have developed a cult following and the stage production has been performed all over the world.
