Thai AirAsia, the Thailand subsidiary of AirAsia, has announced the launch of direct flights from Bengaluru to Bangkok starting from September 1.
“We are pleased to launch an exciting new route with direct flights from Bengaluru to Bangkok from September 1, 2015 onwards. Our five flights per week will significantly contribute to Air Asia’s connectivity in India,” said Tassapon Bijleveld, the CEO of Thai AirAsia.
Flight FD 137 will leave Don Mueang International Airport at 9pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, and will reach Bengaluru International Airport at 11pm (local time). The return flight FD 138 will take off from Bangalore at 11.45pm and will be landing at Bangkok at 5am.
“I am confident our Bangkok-Bangalore direct flight will receive great interest as Bangalore is one of south India’s most important cities. It is well known for its education and attracts many students, especially medical students. Its technological advancements also set it apart. Our new flight provides a great opportunity for both tourism and investment,” says Mr Bijleveld.
“We are also working with AirAsia India, which has an extensive domestic network in India; this will help Indian travellers looking to visit Thailand. In the past year, Indian travellers were among the top ten most frequent visitors to Thailand. Also for Thai tourists, they will be able to discover many Indian destinations with AirAsia India’s flights to Kochi, Goa, Pune, Jaipur, Chandigarh, New Delhi, and Visakhapatnam,” he added.
Bangalore, also known as Bengaluru, is among the largest cities in India. The city is known for its technology and education and is the biggest hub for IT and software industries in India.
