Spurs will head to South Africa for the upcoming Vodacom Challenge, a pre-season tournament that also features Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Premier League football team Tottenham Hotspur are set to board flights to South Africa as they prepare to take part in the Vodacom Challenge later this month.

The north London club will be competing against top South African teams Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs as they attempt to clinch victory in the pre-season tournament.

Spurs will take on Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday July 16th in Polokwane, before their clash with Orlando Pirates on Tuesday July 19th.

The Kaizer Chiefs will then face the Pirates on Thursday July 21st, with Spurs playing the winners of that match in the final game in Johannesburg on Saturday July 23rd.

Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes’ trip to South Africa will be his third successive summer excursion to the country, having gone there as part of Brazil’s winning squad for the Confederations Cup in 2009 and travelled with his national team for the 2010 World Cup.

“The atmosphere is special, a lot different to other countries. It’s a great atmosphere to play football in,” he told the Tottenham website.
