South Africa boasts ‘top luxury hotel’

The Saxon Boutique Hotel, Villas & Spa in Johannesburg is one of the world’s leading hotels, claims a travel writer.Annie Scott, writing for Luxist.com, explained the South Africa hotel has welcomed a number of celebrity guests in recent years including Oprah Winfrey, Kevin Spacey and Shakira.

Originally a private residence, the hotel was created in 2000 and has 41 basic suites, 11 presidential suites, three villas and a two-bedroom suite with its own elevator.

Guests can also visit the high-tech spa that offers treatments including Swedish massage and hydro baths. The Spa was named as one of the world’s top city spas in 2007 by Tatler UK.

People taking flights to Johannesburg looking for luxury accommodation could also be tempted by Saxon’s two outdoor pools – an infinity pool and a smaller courtyard pool.

The hotel also offers guests a comprehensive dining experience, with a menu that allows patrons to almost name their own dishes.
