The final stages of the Billabong Pro surf competition are taking place in South Africa this week.

The Billabong Pro leg of the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Tour is currently underway and tourists who have taken flights to South Africa could check out the closing stages of the contest.

Taking place at the world-famous Jeffrey’s Bay surf beach, the tournament is the fourth date on the tour’s calendar.

Veteran US surfer Kelly Slater, Aussie Joel Parkinson and current world number one Adriano de Souza from Brazil won the first three stops, but the victory in South Africa is still up for grabs.

There is a prize pot of $425,000 (£262,000) at the Billabong Pro, which will ensure that everyone brings their A-game to the waves.

The competition kicked off on July 14th and runs until July 24th.

Jeffrey’s Bay is well known for boasting some of the biggest and best waves in the world, with the right-breaking tubes providing many a delighted surfer with an enjoyable barrel.
