People planning holidays to South Africa may be pleased to hear that a well-known hotel in the country has picked up two awards.
A well-known Cape Town hotel has been awarded the titles of number one city hotel and number one hotel spa in Africa and the Middle East.
The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa was given the accolades in Travel and Leisure’s 2009 World’s Best Awards.
It has recently undergone a refurbishment incorporating both structural and interior design alterations.
Beatrice Tollman, founder and president at the resort, developed the new design concept with her daughter Toni. It is described as “a fresh and calming design scheme that artfully combines sophistication with simplicity and comfort with elegance”.
The resort used skilled craftsmen from the local area as well as those from further afield to furnish the hotel with some of its more unusual features, such as candy-stripe wool carpets and chandeliers made from recycled clay.
People intending to travel to South Africa for the World Cup next summer may be interested in the developments.
Cape Town is one of the host cities for the tournament where a number of matches will be played, including one of the semi-finals.
