The Business Traveller Awards have recognised and rewarded the achievements of Singapore Airlines.

Singapore Airlines has picked up five accolades at the Business Traveller Awards 2009, it has emerged.

The carrier walked away with the titles best business class, best cabin staff, best long-haul airline, best economy class and best Asian airline.

Other firms to receive recognition for their efforts in the industry include Virgin Atlantic, which won best premium economy class, and easyJet, which scooped the gong for best low-cost airline.

Additionally, Emirates was named as the provider of best first class service for the first time ever.

The ceremony was held at the London Hilton on Park Lane and hosted by Sir Ranulph Fiennes and comedian Jo Brand.

This is not the first piece of good news Asia-based air travel firms have received of late.

Last week, Wanderlust Travel Magazine’s list of the top worldwide carriers of 2009 featured Singapore Airlines, Etihad, Qatar and Thai Airways.
