Mihin Lanka Airlines, a low cost carrier of Sri Lanka is going to launch new flights to India from Colombo connecting Madurai in South India. The airline will operate three weekly flights on the route starting from the first week of September.
Mihin Lanka Airlines, a low-cost carrier based in Sri Lanka will soon launch new flights to India connecting Madurai, a southern Indian city from Sri Lankan capital Colombo. The flight service is likely to start from 1st week of September.
As per the news reports, the airline will operate three weekly service (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) on the Madurai-Colombo route. The flight service will definitely bring big smiles for the budget travellers looking for outbound and inbound cheap flights to India from Colombo.
Mihin Lanka is a no frills Sri Lankan airline owned by the Sri Lankan Government. The airline offers low fare services from Colombo to various cities in the Indian subcontinent, the Gulf and Southeast Asia and thus stays on the preference list of budget holiday makers seeking cheap flight ticket deals to these destinations.
Mr. K Sankiah Pandian, the Director of Madurai Airport, was quoted in news reports as saying, “The AAI has accepted the schedule proposal submitted by the Mihin Airlines to fly between Colombo and Madurai three days a week. If everything goes well, the service between Colombo and Madurai will commence in the first week of September.”
“After getting the customs status, we immediately finished the work of establishing customs counters and international passenger bay in the airport. The work of the emigration counter is the only one pending now,” Mr. Pandian further added.
The new flight service will depart from Colombo at 2:20 pm and will arrive in Madurai at 3:20 pm. The return flight will depart from Madurai at 4:15 pm and will arrive in Colombo at 5:15 pm, as per the flight schedule rolled out by Mihin Lanka Airlines. The airline is planning to deploy Airbus A-321 type aircraft on the route. The aircraft has a capacity of 200 passengers.
