Gourmands taking flights to India with Jet Airways will soon be able to enjoy a variety of cuisines in the flight. The largest carrier of India has plans to introduce Italian, Chinese and Continental cuisines in its menu list.
Food lovers with bookings on Jet Airways’ flights would soon be able to savour the taste of an enhanced variety of cuisines during their flight journey.
One of the leading private carriers of India, Jet Airways is planning to treat its flyers with a range of cuisines including Italian, Chinese and Continental. Travellers taking flights with the airline can book their preferred choice of cuisines in advance by paying a small fee. The option is available to both domestic as well and international passengers booking flights with the carrier.
The regular free meal service can also be enjoyed by those who do not wish to pay extra.
A senior airline official was quoted in online media sources as saying, “Passengers will be able to book pre-selected menus online. We hope to have this system in place in the next two to three months.”
The low cost unit of the airline, JetKonnect that operates cheap flights within India, already sells meals on its flights. The move to provide paid meal service is being seen as Jet’s attempt to boost its ancillary revenues without impacting the budget of economy class flyers as the option of free meal is still there.
Additionally, the operator is also considering levying charges for privileges like pre-selection of seats on flights, providing special facilities at airports like faster check-ins etc. The operator may also open its business class lounge to the economy class flyers for a fee.
