India Golf Tourism Association Launched; Eyes Tourists
Golf lovers booking tickets on flights bound to India will now have better opportunity to pursue their favourite hobby as the country gets serious about promoting the sport from tourist perspective. Recently in India’s capital city, New Delhi, the India Golf Tourism Association (IGTA) was launched. The association will work actively to promote the country as a golfing tourist destination in international markets, enticing the fans of the ‘clubs and courses’ to make bookings on flights tickets arriving in the country.
“We are enthused by the successful experiences of countries like South Africa where tourism stakeholders are promoting golf tourism from one platform,” said a top official at the IGTA.
In order to create awareness and tempt golfing fans to net cheap deals on flights tickets, the IGTA will participate in road shows and international trade events. Also in the pipeline is a tournament that is reportedly going to be held jointly with the government, something which is again going to lure the fans of the game to book flights tickets.
Several tour and travel operators based in India feel the initiative to promote the gentleman’s game in the country is really going to benefit the industry. Even now, heaps of golf tourists are booking flights tickets for India travel and the cohesive promotion will only increase the number of such holiday makers taking tickets deals on India bound flights.
