Travellers heading to Delhi next month could enjoy getting involved in some of the city’s anniversary celebrations.

There could be a rise in the number of people looking to take flights to Delhi next month as the city waits to celebrate its 100th anniversary of being named the capital of India.

King George V made the announcement on December 11th 1911 that the capital was to be moved from Calcutta to Delhi and the city is taking steps to spruce up some of its most famous landmarks to mark the event.

A project which is seeing a lot of work is the city’s Coronation Park, which has been in need of renovation work for many years.

The area will be given a new look, while the statues will be cleaned to bring them back to their former glory.

After celebrating in the city, some people who took flights to Delhi could try using some of the new internal flights from the city which have been announced by Air India.
