British Airways, the flag carrier of United Kingdom commenced sixth direct flights from London to Chennai in order to cope with the increasing demands of tickets aboard flights running on the sector. The new operations began on 27th October.

Earlier, the airline was providing tickets for five direct flights between both the destinations.

The new flights that run six-days a week (except Thursday) has contributed to a substantial rise in total number of weekly services between UK and India. The carrier now operates about 48 flights to five cities of India.

Boeing 777-200 aircraft with three-class configuration is operating on newly-introduced route. In addition, passengers reserving tickets for Club World, World Traveller Plus and World Traveller seats can take advantage of flats beds and vast range of onboard services.

“The announcement on our additional flight to Chennai marks another milestone towards British Airways’ expansion and growth in India. Chennai forms a very critical part of our India strategy and through this initiative we would like to reiterate our commitment to the market.” quoted by the airline’s regional commercial manager prior to the launch of these new flights.

“Being a commercial and cultural hub of South India, we have witnessed tremendous growth in Chennai from both business and leisure travel categories in the past and expect these segments to grow exponentially in future,” he further added.

Tickets on London-India flights are often sought by both Britons as well as Indian passengers. It is clear that increased services have put big smiles on the faces of natives of both the destinations. In addition, foreign holiday makers seeking global connectivity can also look forward to grab tickets from UK to India.

According to the schedule, flights BA 35 from London depart at 09:30 hours and arrive in Chennai at 01:00 hr. The return flights BA 36 leave Chennai at 04:00 hrs and reach UK at 09:35 hrs.
