India’s state-run airline has announced that a ten-day pilot strike has been brought to an end.

Brits planning on catching flights to India later this month may be glad to learn that the Air India pilots’ strike has been resolved.

After ten days of industrial action, the Indian airline has announced that an agreement was reached with the unions on Saturday (May 7th).

As a result, Air India predicts that services will be back to “100 per cent normal operations” today.

In a statement, the state-run airline said: “[We] sincerely regret the inconvenience caused to its passengers during the disruption. Air India would also like to thank all its customers who had supported us during this period.”

Additional flights will be run from its regional bases in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore to clear the backlog of passengers whose flights had to be rescheduled.

Air India runs direct flights from the UK to Mumbai and Delhi, as well as onward transfers to many destinations within the country.
