People booking flights departing from London or Manchester may be interested to hear about the latest initiative from Finnair.
Finnair has announced that it is now offering check-in services via text message to its passengers departing on flights from both London and Manchester.
The text message service enables people to receive a boarding pass via SMS on their mobile phone.
Passengers must simply reply to the message by sending a letter ‘A’ to confirm.
It is designed to speed up the check-in process by allowing travellers to proceed straight to the departure lounge on arrival at the airport, provided that they only have carry-on luggage. Any cases to be checked in can be left at the baggage drop desk.
Only members of the airline’s frequent flier programme, Finnair Plus, will be able to use the service initially.
Markku Remes, from Finnair, commented: “Our text message check-in service is very popular among our passengers as it speeds up airport formalities. Our aim is to incorporate continually more destinations in our network into this service.”
The Finnish carrier offers flights to a range of destinations out of the UK, including Delhi, Sydney and Cape Town.
