Emirates passengers can now make phone calls on the A380
Anyone booking flights to Dubai and beyond with Emirates will now be able to continue to make calls on their mobile phones – even while travelling at 35,000 ft.
The airline is well known in the industry for being at the forefront of technological advances and was one of the first to allow flyers to email and send texts while in the air.
All Things D has reported that those on the Airbus A380 can connect to the airline’s WiFi service with their handsets and make a call from the aircraft.
“Beginning in 1993 with first passenger satellite phone service … Emirates has always taken the approach that providing the latest in in-flight service and connectivity is a key part of our passengers’ journey,” vice president Patrick Brannelly said in a statement.
He added that the carrier will continue to make further advances and push the boundaries of in-flight innovation in the future.
