Cheap flights to Cairo could let football fans join in the aftermath of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

With Egypt through to the final of the Africa Cupof Nations, cheap flights to Cairo could allow holidaymakers to take a trip to the country to join in the celebrations should they win.

Egypt defeated Algeria 4-0 in the semi-final during a match of considerable controversy and numerous red cards.

They included Algeria’s goalkeeper, Chaouchi Faouzi, who was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

However, he was lucky to remain on the pitch after his first offence – apparently headbutting the referee during a disagreement over a penalty decision.

Cheap flights to Cairo in the days after the final may allow visitors to celebrate success along with Egyptian residents – or to commiserate should they lose.

A loss may seem likely in light of Egypt’s opposition, Ghana, who are hotly tipped to lift the Africa Cup of Nations trophy after the final.

However, in a tournament where referees’ decisions have made the headlines on more than one occasion, it could still prove to be the case that a booking or dismissal – and not a breathtaking goal – serves as the turning point in the match.
