Wayne Rooney and his wife have opted to take a trip to Dubai following his new contract signing. The England footballer opted to stay with his current club, Manchester United, and was rewarded with a new £8 million pay deal – despite announcing he was looking to transfer just days before.

Rather than stay at home for his 25th birthday, the couple have taken flights to Dubai to enjoy a short break at a seven-star hotel.

The Burj Al Arab hotel is the state’s top destination and four nights in a deluxe suite can cost close to £10,000.

There are 202 luxury suites at the hotel, each with butler service, 42-inch plasma televisions, spa bath and in-room safe as well as a special dedicated check-in service.

Guests can also enjoy the private Majlis Al Bahar beach, Assawan Spa & Health Club and the hotel’s seven restaurants and bars.
