Emirates has announced that it has placed an order with Boeing for more 777-300 ER aircraft.

People booking flights to Dubai with Emirates may soon have more services to choose from after the carrier announced that it has placed order for additional airplanes.

The airline has called for 50 new Boeing 777-300 ERs with option for 20 777-300 ERs, making it the single largest order which has ever been put in for the airplane manufacturer.

In total, it is estimated that the order will be worth around $26 billion (£16.3 billion).

The carrier already has 40 777-300 ERs on its books.

“The Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft plays a pivotal role in Emirates development of a modern fleet to meet the demand for global air travel for the future,” said His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of the Emirates Airline and Group.

Emirates also recently held an event to celebrate expanding to offer more than just flights to Dubai, with the creation of the new route to Baghdad.
