Around eight million tourists will flock to Dubai this year, a survey has estimated.

Visitors from all across the world are even more likely to book flights to Dubai this year, as a recent survey has predicted that the UAE destination will be even more popular than New York this year.

An estimated eight million in-bound tourists will visit the city this year, spending a total of $7.8 billion (£4.8 billion), according to new research by MasterCard.

This 17.3 per cent annual uplift will make Dubai the ninth most popular destination in the world, ahead of Amsterdam and Kuala Lumpur, as well as New York, Emirates 24|7 reports.

Londoners are the most likely to fly to Dubai, following by Kuwaitis and travellers from Beijing, the survey also found.

British travellers heading to Dubai can visit popular attractions such as the Palm Jumeirah development and the extensive Dubai Mall.

Flights to the UAE city are available through a range of airlines, including Emirates, Virgin Atlantic and Qatar Airways.
